The Office of Advancement is searching for student engagement officers. As a student engagement officer, you will be an ambassador and personal representative of Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, its programs, and primarily the Annual Fund. You will be trained to contact alumni, parents, and friends of the university to build relationships, offer updates on current campus events, and raise monetary support.
Over $50,000 is raised annually for the Saint Mary’s Fund through the phonathon, all of which directly benefits our students. Your hard work and commitment to the Saint Mary’s Fund is a direct way to increase dollars available as needs arise on campus. As a caller you will report directly to the student supervisor and the associate director of the Saint Mary’s Fund.
Responsibilities
- Contact Saint Mary’s alumni to educate them on the importance of the Saint Mary’s Fund.
- Establish a positive rapport with the alumni you call.
- Respond positively to problems and answer any questions about the University.
- Request a gift to the Saint Mary’s Fund.
- Update contact information, address and employment of all alumni contacts in web software.
- Maintain accurate records of each evening’s calls with use of VanillaSoft web software
- Follow all other procedures and guidelines in the training manual.
- Keep all donor information confidential.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Comfort in requesting updated information and soliciting personal donations from alumni
- Organizational abilities and attentiveness to details
- Ability to work as part of a team and with senior staff support
- Enthusiasm for Saint Mary’s, its mission and programs
Working Hours
- Phonathon shifts run Sunday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Monday through Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m.
- Applicants must commit to a minimum of 2 shifts per week.
- Start date of Sept. 1, 2021.
Wages
- Phonathon callers will be paid $10.08 per hour, and training is paid.
- Work-study is not required for this position but can be accepted.
