In her time at Saint Mary’s, Zoe Fink has come to embrace challenge. Rather than shy away from what is difficult, she sees it as exciting. She adopted this perspective thanks to her professors, who make class a place she looks forward to going to despite the academic challenges she might face there. They create engaging lessons and cultivate an environment where she feels comfortable and confident trying new things.

“My professors are always approachable and supportive, pushing me to be the best version of myself,” she said.

It is not just the professors who have helped her grow at Saint Mary’s. She also has her classmates, teammates, friends, and coaches to thank. In the last four years, Fink has been widely involved throughout the Saint Mary’s community. She played on the softball team, served as vice president of academic affairs on the Student Senate, and vice president of the Pre-Law Society. She also worked as an executive orientation leader and as a lifeguard for the Jul Gernes pool on campus.

“I’ve met so many incredible people, gotten involved in clubs and organizations that make a difference, and been part of a community that is bigger than myself,” she explained.

“My time on Student Senate has given me the opportunity to serve the community and my classmates. Being an Executive Orientation Leader allowed me to meet new classmates and welcome them to the school, and being on the softball team gave me the opportunity to find a group of girls and be a part of a team that supports each other no matter what.”

Fink studies accounting and business analytics and minors in legal studies. After graduating, she will attend law school at Marquette University to earn her J.D. She feels the leadership and service opportunities she had at Saint Mary’s will set her up for success in the next phase of her academic career. Through these experiences and the relationships she built from them, she found herself and her passions, something she believes will be an invaluable tool for life after graduation.

This opportunity for personal growth is what she thinks makes the Saint Mary’s community so unique. Everyone wants to see each other succeed, so they push each other to challenge their perspectives and try new things.

“I have been surrounded every day by people who make me a better person,” she said. “Everyone has pushed me to be my best, and because of that, I feel very prepared going into my next steps of law school because of my experience at this school.”
