FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TO ANY INFORMATION OUTLETS

(Or whenever you get around to reading this, honestly. We aren’t your boss)

DATELINE: Winona Campus – FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION AND DISTRIBUTION

ATTN: News Desks, Gossip Columnists, and Anyone Easily Distracted

The Lillian Davis Hogan Galleries will host a show titled “SMU Creates” to show the work of Faculty and Staff from across the spectrum of disciplines in January 2028.  We are looking for contributors who might be interested in showing their artistic work.

There are three distinct ways for you to highlight your talents.

Food:  First, if you bake, we are looking at the option to do cookies and bars for the opening reception.  If you’d like to make a set of bars or cookies to share, this would be a great way to share those talents.

Music:  Second, again for the opening reception, it would be interesting to assemble a small group of musicians to play in the background as the show opens.

Pieces:  Finally, the broadest category would be showing your art in the show.  Art is a broad term, meaning you could contribute paintings, sculptures, photographs, fabric arts like knitting or quilting, or other pieces you’ve made that you consider art.

While January 2028 sounds like a long time from now, we wanted to provide this information early, in case you wanted to make a piece for this show specifically.  It is only 16 months away, so it is coming pretty quickly.

If you are interested in contributing, please contact Matt Klosky at mklosky@smumn.edu and say what you’re interested in doing.  Or ask questions or make suggestions for improvements.  We are open to the conversation to make this a stellar event for our community.
