We want to acknowledge that the presence of ICE agents in Minneapolis, and, more broadly, in the State of Minnesota, is creating anxiety, uncertainty, anger, and sadness in members of our Saint Mary’s community. We understand that the possible appearance of ICE agents on the Minneapolis campus or inside campus buildings would be unsettling. Since our campus is private property, ICE agents should not enter our campus or our buildings without a valid judicial order (search or arrest warrant). The safety of our students and employees is a significant priority for us. Accordingly, we have taken several proactive steps that we hope will contribute to a greater sense of safety and security for our students and employees on the Minneapolis campus.
- Please review this document titled “ICE Agent(s) on Campus: Checklist for Students.” We hope it will provide you with an accessible guide for possible interactions with ICE agents.
- As you know, all of our campus buildings are locked throughout the day and evening. No student or employee should provide ICE agents with access to any building on campus.
- We have posted our property as private property, asserting our Constitutional rights to be free from search without a valid search or arrest warrant. You may see these signs in appropriate locations around campus.
- If you see ICE agents on our Minneapolis campus, please call Campus Security immediately at 612-720-0417.
Please remain calm and professional in any interactions with ICE agents. Stay safe.
