We have partnered with Great River Shakespeare Festival (GRSF) for them to lead an upcoming Shakespeare Showcase for students to perform different scenes and have the opportunity to work with a professional arts company! Auditions will be on Wednesday, January 21st and Thursday, January 22nd from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. You can drop in anytime at the Performance Center during those timeframes to audition! This is open to all undergraduate students and no experience is necessary. They will provide you both Shakespeare and non-Shakepeare pieces to read for the audition. If you want to bring your own piece to read that you have prepared you are welcome to, but you do not need to bring anything. GRSF’s goal is to make Shakespeare relatable and accessible so they want you to audition in a way that you feel most comfortable.
When you arrive you will fill out your availability so they can schedule rehearsals for your scenes so please bring your calendar with you when you audition.
If you have any questions or want to sign-up in advance for auditions please email ljohnson@smumn.edu or stop by our auditions table at the bottom of the dining hall stairs (table 1) during common hour on 1/16, 1/19, 1/21, and 1/22.
For those wanting to work behind the scenes such as stage management, lights, sound, costumes, etc. please also stop by during audition times and GRSF will find ways for you to be a part of the production!
