On Wednesday, March 5th (the day of the big Minnesota blizzard!), multiple members of our Saint Mary’s MSW community attended an in-person event at the state capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite the blizzard conditions, about 150 social workers made it up to the MN Capitol to meet with their legislators and advocate on behalf of the social work profession and clients. Our students were able to meet with the legislative aide who works with Representative Gomez (representing the neighborhood where our SGPP campus is physically located), attend a committee hearing for the Educational Policy committee, and join with other social workers for a rally in the Rotunda to hear from multiple legislators who support the profession of social work. Happy Social Work Month!
