The Xcel Energy Scholarship is provided through the Minnesota Private College Fund and is worth $5,000 for the 24-25 academic year.
Eligibility criteria:
- Demonstrated financial need (must be a current Federal Pell a/o Minnesota State Grant recipient),
- First generation college student,
- Sophomore or Junior Undergraduate Student Status
- Attend one of the Minnesota Private Colleges and Universities,
- Minnesota resident – home residence must be in Xcel Energy Service Area, and
- Current enrollment in one of these majors:

***Please note that Xcel Energy staff will be conducting 30-minute interviews with 20 scholarship finalists. Interviews are mandatory for final selection. Scheduling will take place during mid-late October; you will be notified directly if you make it to the interview stage.
Essay questions have been provided ahead of time, so you can thoughtfully prepare your responses:
- Tell us about yourself and some of the qualities that make you unique.
- Briefly describe your long- and short-term goals. What are your career aspirations?
- Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability on-campus and off-campus.
- Describe your experience with Diversity Equity and Inclusion. How has it impacted the way you experience the world?
- Xcel Energy is an energy company. What interests you about the energy sector?
