Winter Break begins on December 20, 2022 and ends on January 8, 2023. Residence halls will close for break at 7:00 p.m. on December 20, 2022 and reopen at 12:00 p.m. on January 8, 2023.
If you need on-campus housing between those dates you must complete a break housing form by Monday, December 19, 2022 at 4:30 p.m.
Only those students who will be participating in SAINT MARY’S SPONSORED activities, traveling distances of eight hours or longer or international students will be granted break housing unless specifically approved by the Office of Residence Life. A $35 per night fee may be added to a student account for remaining on campus for reasons other than those stated above.
For students who are leaving for the entire winter break, a break checkout form must be completed in eRezLife prior to departing campus. This form will be available beginning on December 14, 2022. Prior to departure, please make sure your windows are closed, garbage is taken out, lights are off, doors are locked and any food that will expire is either thrown out, taken home, or donated (if unopened).
During this break, all dorm-size refrigerators must be unplugged, thawed and propped open. If they are not defrosted and propped open prior to leaving they will mold and smell. All full size refrigerators may remain plugged in. Aain, any food that will expire over break, in or out of a refrigerator, should be taken home, donated to the food pantry (if unopened) or thrown out. Please contact your RA or Hall Director for donations.
If you have food in common area refrigerators, please remove it before break begins. All food not labeled will be subject to disposal.
Food service will not be available. The cafeteria will close at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, and the Cardinal Club will close at 5 p.m. on the same date. Food service will reopen on Sunday, January 8, for dinner.
The Cardinal Co-op food pantry will be open during break from 8:00 am. until 4:30 p.m. for those staying on campus during break. It is located in the Vlazny Hall kitchen.
