The Winona-Dakota Unity Alliance (WDUA) would like to invite Saint Mary’s students, staff and faculty to the upcoming Winona-Dakota Gathering, Homecoming & Wacipi to be held at Unity Park (east end of Lake Winona). This year’s Gathering will take place Saturday, September 30 through Sunday, October 1. The Gathering will include a Sunrise Ceremony, Talking Circle, Grand Entry (traditional dancing) and a Unity Feast and more. Native and local vendors from around the region will be selling unique merchandise. On Sunday the Gathering will include a Remember Our Loved Ones Ceremony led by Suzanne Nash of the Indigenous Peoples Task Force and Malia Fox, a time to honor and remember loved ones lost to opioids or alcohol. The WDUA is grateful to be hosting the Gathering again. All events are free to attend, donations are welcome.
