The School of Health and Human Services is excited to welcome Jon Roesler, the new Program Director for the Master of Public Health Program! Please see more information about Jon’s vast experience he brings to Saint Mary’s below!

Folks on the Minneapolis campus are welcome to stop by the Brother Louis Hall 2nd floor lounge on Monday, Sept. 12, to welcome Jon with coffee and donuts! Please RSVP here so we have an accurate count for donuts!

Jon Roesler (ray-slur) was an epidemiologist and a supervisor at the Minnesota Department of Health for more than 33 years (primarily within the Injury and Violence Prevention Section).  Before that, he served with the North Dakota Department of Health and the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health at the University of Minnesota. At the time of his departure from MDH, he was the principal investigator for the Minnesota Violent Death Reporting System and for the Surveillance of Sudden Unexplained Infant Death / Sudden Death in the Youth, co-principal investigator for the Minnesota State Injury Prevention Program, and a co-investigator for the Minnesota Alcohol Epidemiology Project and for the Minnesota TBI/SCI Registry Program.  Mr. Roesler has a B.A. degree in Physiology/Psychology, an M.S. degree in Environmental Health, and completed coursework, written prelims, and oral prelims for a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Minnesota.

Jon lives in a multi-generational household with his wife, daughter, and two grandgirls, ages 9 and 7.  When his daughter is working the weekend (she is a nurse),  Jon takes his grandgirls on “adventures” in hiking, exploring waterfalls, museum trips, and the like.  As Jon lives but 2 1/2 miles from the SMU Minneapolis campus, he is looking forward to commuting via his recumbent bicycle.
