The university is pleased to welcome Dr. Shirin Edwin, Director of Accreditation, Compliance and Assessment, to the university community. Dr. Edwin started on July 1st, replacing short-term interim director, Tracy Lehnertz, and previous director Heather Nickel, who left the university in May. Dr. Edwin comes to Saint Mary’s with 20 years of experience in higher education, first as a tenured faculty member at Sam Houston University and New York University Shanghai, and more recently in senior academic administrative roles at Bristol Community College, Metropolitan State University and Briar Cliff University. Her experience in the classroom and with faculty, with regulatory agencies including the Higher Learning Commission, and in administrative roles position her well for this role.
Dr. Edwin has a Ph.D. in French from Vanderbilt University, a M.A. in French from Bangalore University, a B.A. in English Literature from Mount Carmel College. She also completed the Executive Women in Leadership Certificate program at Cornell University. Dr. Edwin resides in St. Paul with her husband and three children. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, gardening, and watching sports.
