Updates to HR policies and employee handbook

The Human Resources Department, together with Ann Merchlewitz, senior vice president and general counsel, and Ben Murray, executive vice president and CFO, recently completed a review of all HR policies and the employee handbook. We do this annually to ensure compliance with the latest developments in federal and state employment law and in response to feedback we receive about the employee work experience at Saint Mary’s.

Some policies remain unchanged or have been updated only to clarify existing terms. Others have been revised to reflect improvements for employees, such as the addition of certificate courses to the graduate tuition remission policy, enhanced benefits for nursing mothers, and the addition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to the holiday list, among several others.
