WINONA, Minn. – It’s a jam-packed four days of events! Tennis returns to action at home this weekend, we’ve got a basketball doubleheader at home, track meets at two different locations, and hockey is also split across two venues.

Women’s Basketball Split Week

Following a successful Saturday on the road beating Macalester, the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team is now at a .500 record for the season, with an overall mark of 7-7 and 5-3 in conference play. This week’s schedule features matchups against two teams from the bottom half of the conference.

On Wednesday night, the team will host St. Olaf (6-9), who is winless in conference play, with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. Then, on Saturday, they’ll travel to Saint Benedict (9-6) for a 1:00 p.m. game.

Men’s Basketball By Weekend

The Cardinal men’s basketball team (5-11) is aiming to bounce back after dropping their last three games, including a narrow loss to Macalester on Saturday. The team will have one game this week on Wednesday and take the weekend off before rounding out the season.

The team will host St. Olaf (1-15) on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off, facing a squad that is winless in conference play and also looking to rebound.

Men’s Hockey Series vs. St. John’s

After a tough weekend at home with two overtime losses, the Cardinals are eager to finish out the season with conference play.

The men’s hockey team (7-7-1) will travel to St. John’s (6-9) on Thursday night for a 7:00 p.m. matchup, then host St. John’s on Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. game.

Women’s Hockey Away Weekend

It was an eventful weekend for the women’s hockey team (9-5), as they were shut out 6-0 by the No. 5 Gusties. However, they bounced back at home on Saturday, defeating the Gusties 2-0 for their first win over them since 2016.

The team hopes to build on this victory as they head into the week, traveling to face a strong Saint Benedict squad (9-3-3) for a weekend road series, starting Friday at 7 p.m. and continuing Saturday at 4 p.m.

Track and Field Returns to Action

The track and field team kicked off their season at St. Olaf on Saturday, earning six first-place finishes.

The team will return to St. Olaf on Friday and Saturday for the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi. Meanwhile, half of the team will head to UW-La Crosse for the Pat Healy Classic on Saturday, with all events starting at 10 a.m.

Tennis is Back

The Saint Mary’s tennis teams are back in action for the first time since late September! The 2025 season kicks off this weekend at the Winona Tennis Center. The teams will face Martin Luther on Saturday, followed by the men’s match against Lawrence later that evening at 6 p.m.

The men will have a quick turnaround, taking on Carleton at home on Sunday, January 26th, at 4 p.m.
