The Cardinals are on the road all week! The men’s basketball and hockey teams will play Tuesday, November 26th before the holiday break. The women’s hockey team will travel to Dubuque, Iowa to play in the 2024 Dubuque Mississippi Match-Up Thanksgiving Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
Basketball in Illinois
The Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team will play Elmhurst University in Illinois on Tuesday, November 26th for a 7 p.m. tip off. The team is coming off a tough loss on the road to UW-River Falls and is looking to bounce back before heading home for the holiday.
Elmhurst has a similar record as the Cardinals as both are 2-2 on the year. The Jays most recently played the top team in the nation, Trine University, at Trine and were out beat by 30 points.
Men’s Hockey at Lawrence
The Saint Mary’s men’s hockey team is ready to get back in action as they have not played in over a week with their last game being last Saturday, November 16th when they defeated conference opponent Hamline at home. The team will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin to take on Lawrence University on Tuesday, November 26th at 7 p.m.
The Lawrence Vikings are 3-4-1 in the early season and had just been swept by Adrian College. The Cardinals faced the Vikings in their second exhibition game of the season so the Cardinals should have a good idea who they are facing.
Women’s Hockey Holiday Tournament
The Cardinals will get to spend Thanksgiving in Dubuque, Iowa playing in the first Mississippi Match-Up Thanksgiving Tournament. The Cardinals are currently on a three-game win streak after two shutouts and a conference sweep should boost them into the weekend.
The Cardinals will face Lake Forest College at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 29th for the first day of the tournament. Depending on the outcome of the game, the Cardinals will either move onto the championship game at 4 p.m. on Saturday facing the winner of the second game on Friday or will play in the consolation game at 1 p.m.
The four teams in the tournament are Saint Mary’s University, Lake Forest College, the University of Dubuque, and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
The Cardinal Athletics Department would like to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, joy, and time well spent with loved ones. We are grateful for the continued support of our fans, student-athletes, coaches, and staff. Go Cardinals!
