San Miguel is a Christian Brother from Ecuador, canonized in 1984. He was a devoted and beloved religion teacher, a scholar who authored many textbooks, and the first native Ecuadorian to enter the Brothers. Canonized by St. John Paul II, he has become the Patron Saint of several Miguel schools in the USA, which are mainly non-tuition driven middle schools. That includes San Miguel School of Chicago and DeLaSalle Blackfeet School in Montana.
