On November 13, 14, and 15th the new Bachelor of Science in Nursing Prelicensure Program hosted an on-site visit with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and Minnesota Board of Nursing Representatives.  The visit included two full days of observing nursing classes, skills labs, simulation, and clinical site rotations along with other meetings with various groups around the University.  CCNE presented a very positive preliminary report stating that, in their assessment, our BSN program meets all four of the CCNE standards with no compliance concerns.  All around, the visitors are very positive, warm, and complimentary of our university, program, staff, faculty, and students.  They were particularly impressed by the holistic care approach supported by the Careful Nursing Philosophy and Professional Practice model.  Well done everyone!  Thank you to all who have been a part of the development and launch of this new program.  A special thank you to those who helped prepare for the visit and interacted with the visitors.  Now we await the official report and a few more committee meeting reviews.
Next Steps:

  • In January, the CCNE site visitors will submit their final report to the Accreditation Review Committee(ARC).
  • In March, the ARC will review all the documentation and make a recommendation to the CCNE Board of Commissioners.
  • In April, the CCNE Board of Commissioners will make the final accreditation decision.
  • In May, we will know the final  accreditation decision.
