Executive Board Reports

Elijah Williams, President
The university has established the President’s Commission on Enrollment which encompasses university administrators working towards goals in terms of enrollment and student retention. At the request of the Rev. James P. Burns, IVD, Ph.D., I have been tasked with creating a Student Commission on Enrollment. This group will consist of six students, from various backgrounds, classes, and disciplines, and will work in tandem with the President’s group. This will be an invitation only group and I will be in touch with some of the senators.

For those of you who have purchased Student Senate apparel, please be sure to turn your order form in today

Huge thank you to those who attended the highway cleanup, it was a great success!

Please submit your capital improvements. No idea is too big or too small! We are willing to work with students, faculty / staff on a number of ideas.

There is a student art show coming up on campus! Anyone can apply with artwork they made in or out of class (no kits or copies). Work can be submitted on Nov. 12 and Nov. 15 from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in the Lillian Davis Hogan art galleries. The show opening is 4:30-6:00 p.m. on Nov. 18. There are prizes for first, second, and third places ($100, $50, $25).

If you have any feedback about experiences with academics, please feel free to email me and let me know. Examples include registration, experiences with faculty, and any ideas you have about making the academic experience better. You can reach me at mjfurl17@smumn.edu.

Diversity cafe will be taking on a new format next semester. Instead of running eight sessions for the semester and requiring CE students to attend three, we will be holding five sessions and students will be required to attend four. The sessions will be held Monday evenings and there will be a cap of 30 people. Once you have registered for CE101 or CE102, you must submit your name to Dr. Erich Lippman.

Lyanna and I are asking that the senators within the student life committee please stay a bit after the meeting so that we can plan meeting times.

Leon and I are looking for students interested in being Peer Educators and Advocates for Campus Equality, or P.E.A.C.E. Leaders.

Some duties would include attending DEI training

Planning and facilitating workshops, discussions, etc.

Sophia O’Neil, Executive Assistant
