Financial Request – Diversity and Inclusion Fund:
$2,500 set aside each semester in this fund
Destiny Walker: It’s Black History Month and we are looking to host some events to celebrate this month. Looking to host 4-5 events with other clubs partnering to put them on. Two movie nights, a painting night featuring Black History, and a Black History Reading event, and potentially an open mic night. Funding would be for movie licensing and snacks. Total requested is $250

Executive Board Reports

Elijah Williams, President
The Student Senate Presidential election is rapidly approaching. All senators who have served for a full year on the senate, including those elected in the Fall of 2021, are eligible to run for the position of Student Senate President. The campaign packet, nomination petition, and other information will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022.

If you have yet to sign up for Student Voices, please do so by the end of this week. All senators are required to attend and we do get a report from the state, so we are able to see who has signed up.

I would like to welcome Abby Gilliland, the newly elected at-large representative, to the Student Senate!

I am working with Sophia and Maria this week to touch base on intercommunication between the student representatives on the faculty committees.

There are a few requests in the financial pipeline. Budget forms should roll out soon.

Capital Improvements Round Two are in motion, we are awaiting the final feasibility of the projects before we move forward. We are hoping to vote on them by the end of the month!

Friday, February 11 at 12:00 there is a civil discourse event featuring the WSU President, Senator Miller, and Representative Pelowski from Winona. Sign up here

This upcoming week is the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Bl. James Miller, FSC. There will be a series of events honoring his legacy.

Saturday, February 12 there will be a Vigil Mass at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel

Monday, February 14 at 4:30 p.m. in the President’s Lounge Brother Paul Joslin FSC will share his story of Bl. Brother James Miller. He was on mission with Bl. Brother James during the time of his murder.

Thursday, February 17 there is a Panel Discussion on Migrant America: The Hidden Community Amongst Us at 7:00 p.m. in Salvi featuring Dr. Kyle Black and Fatima Said, Executive Director of Project Fine

Friday, February 18 there is a movie and Discussion of Romero at 7:00 p.m. in Aquinas Hall 200

Elijah and I will be meeting with Shelly Schell, the Associate Director of Career Services, to discuss how Career Services can better serve the student community and learn more about what they have to offer this semester.

Campus Ministry: De La Salle Week
I am meeting with Brian to discuss a potential partnership between Student Senate and Campus Ministry for De La Salle Week. More to come on that
