Student Senate Meeting Minutes

9/29/26

President Noelle Buckley called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  

Prayer and reflection by Dominic Taylor. 

Members Present: Noelle Buckley, Angel Garcia, Bobby Skemp, Jaedyn Fellenz, Rylee O’Konek, Elliot Marr, Cannon Manley, Libby Dellessio, Bella Stone, Caroline Paulson, Julissa Zuniga, Yeelou Xiong, Nora Millner, Vincent Castillo, Matthew Misko, Suzette Alvaraz, Fareedah Oyesola, Lydia Hawkins (Nena Garcia), Simone Roman Vega, Madeleine Moua, Melissa Torres, Dominic Taylor, Brajan Baszak, Ife Alese

New Club Recognition: Cardinals on the Run

  • Cardinals on the Run is a casual running group focused on building a community of runners, meeting Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, typically in the Plaza.
  • The group has had approximately 10 participants and usually runs around campus, with plans to potentially do off-campus trail runs during the fall.
  • Future plans include participating in 5Ks, including a glow-in-the-dark 5K, and potentially collaborating with other clubs on a Turkey Trot to raise mental health awareness.
  • Winter running plans are TBD. Club funds would be used toward 5K entry fees and T-shirts.

Noelle Buckley, President

  • Next week’s fun meeting with volleyball will begin at 6:00 PM at Yons Volleyball Courts instead of 7:00 PM due to daylight. We will play for approximately 30 minutes before moving to the Seminary fire pit for a fire.

Angel Garcia, Vice President of Financial Affairs

  • Nothing to report. 

Bobby Skemp, Vice President of Campus Affairs

  • Highway cleanup is planned for October 24 as part of the Lasallian Day of Service. Volunteers will pick up trash along Highway 14. The time is still being determined between 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Please mark your calendars and complete the required waiver. Cannon will be taking photos during the event.

Grace Leis, Vice President of Academic Affairs

  • Nothing to report. 

Bella Norris, Vice President of Public Affairs

  • Nothing to report. 

Karli Zetah, Vice President of Student Affairs

  • Wednesday: Men’s Soccer at Saint John’s University at 4:00 PM.
  • Friday: Men’s Tennis at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Saint Peter; Women’s Volleyball vs. Carleton College at 7:00 PM.
  • Saturday: Men’s Tennis at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships; Cross Country at the Pre-National Invitational in Northfield at 10:00 AM; Women’s Soccer vs. Hamline University at 1:00 PM; Women’s Volleyball vs. Gustavus Adolphus College at 3:00 PM; Men’s Soccer vs. Hamline University at 3:30 PM.
  • Sunday: Men’s Tennis at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships; Women’s Soccer vs. University of Dubuque at 2:00 PM.
  • Monday: Men’s Soccer vs. University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 4:00 PM.

Jaedyn Fellenz, Vice President of Media and Communications

  • A committee interest form was sent to senators via email. Senators were given time during the meeting to complete the form.
  • Senator spotlights will begin being posted on Instagram. Another form will be sent out and should be completed by Saturday to help introduce senators and increase visibility.

Rylee O’Konek, Vice President of Administrative Affairs

  • The sophomore class officers will be hosting a fundraiser over family weekend. See class officer reports for more information. 

Ariana Flores Diaz, Vice President of Multicultural Affairs

  • A night of culture will be held Wednesday, September 30, from 6:00–9:00 PM in the Common Room. Ceviche, churro cheesecake, and empanadas will be served. RSVP is required for food, which will be served from 6:00–6:30 PM. Attendance is encouraged. 

Scott Walker, Advisor

  • There are career service events coming up, and information should be received via email. Attendance is encouraged.

Sophomores

  • We are hosting our first fundraiser of the year on October 3rd from 1–4 PM. Come support us as we sell concessions!

Juniors

  • Nothing to report. 

Seniors

  • Nothing to report. 

Senator Concerns: 

  • Vincent Castillo: In Saint Joe’s, the shower curtains are not wide enough to fully cover the shower cubicles and one of the toilets is not functioning properly.
