Student Senate Meeting Minutes

Joel Tranel called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Executive Board Reports
Maggie Newhouse, President
- Response to last week’s concern about students in the main gym.
- The wrong footwear in the gym is causing scuff marks that are difficult to remove.
- It was requested that Campus Safety remove non-athletic students from the gym, and lock all doors immediately following basketball practices.
- Sisson now requested that we stop removing students from the gym. Instead, he recommends educating them on appropriate footwear and directing them to use the side courts.
- For the time being, Campus Safety has been instructed to lock the gym but not remove students
- Would senators be interested in having the new chart wells director come and speak with the Senate? YES
- Please email me if you cannot attend Day at the Capitol
- Presidential Petitions are available. I am open to answering any questions anyone has about the position.

- Budgets are now closed
- Look for a message from me about a meeting next Monday.
- Still working on the Flowchart to help answer questions and the processes within the Senate, which will be on the agenda next week.
Mario Rodriguez-Gomez, Vice President of Campus Affairs
- A possible resolution coming next week.
- Continuation of the directional signage project
Noah Lahner, Vice President of Academic Affairs
- Meeting with Kerri from Career Services on Thursday to continue the discussion from last week.
Caden Rodning, Vice President of Public Affairs
- Facilities Committee – thoughts on signs

- Chartwells is working to have the Cafeteria open on time and be more efficient.
- Sporting events for the week:
- Men’s Hockey on Friday at 7:05 pm
- Women’s Hockey on Saturday at 2 pm *Senior Day
- Men’s and Women’s basketball on Saturday at 1 and 3 pm *Senior Day
Taryn Dornseif, Vice President of Media and Communications
- The Instagram takeovers have been going well! I appreciate everyone who has signed up, and the sign-up sheet still has a bunch of slots left on it if you would still like to participate!
- If you are interested in running for president, the petitions are available now so just email me if you would like one!
- They are due completed by March 3 at midnight
- We have some upcoming events that require business professional attire, so I wanted to touch on the clothing closet that is a resource on campus for all students

- If there is a lot of interest, I could set up a time with her to have it open either before or after a senate meeting for anyone who would like to check it out

Lizzie Pike, Vice President of Administrative Affairs
- On March 17th, the Junior Class Officers will be selling alcohol for those with a valid 21+ Driver’s License at St. Patrick’s Day Trivia in the Pub! Cash only.
- More upcoming fundraisers will be coming up in the upcoming weeks/months, so keep an eye out for those.
