Student Senate Meeting Minutes

2/10/26

President Garrett Rotzien called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  

Members Present: Garrett Rotzien, Lizzie Pike, Zoe Fink, JJ Garcia, Javier Rodriguez, Jaedyn Fellenz, Scott Walker, Nozomi Osada, Maggie Albers, Grace Leis, Caroline Paulson, Bella Norris, Libby Dellessio, Zach Ames (Leah Wagner), Rylee O’Konek, Kylie Faerber, Peyton Berg, Karli Zetah, Angel Garcia (Jacob Fiala), Bobby Skemp, Noelle Buckley, Kylee Paul (Gracelyn Leichtnam), Kathy Tran, Amanda Siemienas 

Members Absent: Taryn Dornseif, Reese Heitzman, Alexa March, Destinee Hoffman, and Mollie Koch 

Academic Request: $500 Biochemistry Research Conference (ASBMB) 

  • A student plans to go to Washington D.C. with Dr. Bates to present senior research. The conference is held on March 10-12th. This budget will cover a flight for the student and professor, hotel, and meals.

Executive Board Reports

Garrett Rotzien, President

  • ICE Resources (workshops)
    • Two events:
      • Tour that trains to be constitutional observers
      • Event with Father Burns, Scott, Campus Safety 
  • How many family members can attend graduation?
    • Unlimited
    • First come first serve in the gym, extra seating in the hall of fame room.  
  • Golf simulator update.

Noah Lahner, Vice President of Financial Affairs

  • Nothing to report. 

Javier Rodriguez, Vice President of Campus Affairs

  • Treadmill boards have been sent to be fixed rather than replace the whole unit.
    • Tension will be looked at for one of them.
    • Should be in by the next week or week and a half. 
  • Everything is good to be ordered (dumbbells, rack, stairmasters)
    • Cost $14,333.72, we allocated $16,500
  • Laundry machines are getting fixed/replaced.  
  • Furniture for the golf simulator was put in place (table and chairs).
  • Concrete cornholes form will be sent to the student to see their interest. 
  • Bubble hockey tables and re-felting pool tables will be added to the Toner Game Room. 

Zoe Fink, Vice President of Academic Affairs

  • The catholic education minor, special topics mechatronics course, as well as a mechatronics internship are all approved by the curriculum meeting.

  • Tuesday – Women’s hockey @ #1 ranked UWRF – closing out conference season
  • Wednesday – Men’s basketball vs. Augsburg 7PM, women’s basketball @ Augsburg
  • Friday – Track @ SDSU, women’s hockey @ St. Olaf, Men’s hockey vs. St. Olaf 7PM
  • Saturday – 
    • Track @ SDSU and Carleton meet of hearts 
    • Men and women’s tennis @ Northwestern 12:30PM, women’s tennis @ Carleton 6PM
    • Women’s basketball vs. St. Scholastica 1PM, Men’s basketball vs. St. Scholastica 3PM (SENIOR DAY)
    • Women’s hockey vs. St. Olaf 3PM (SENIOR DAY), Men’s hockey @ St. Olaf

  • Sunday –
    • Softball vs. Bethany in Mankato 9AM, UWRF 11:30 both in Mankato 
  • Minnesota Private Colleges Job and Internship Fair
    • Wednesday, Feb 18th 
    • Current sophomore-senior undergraduates can attend 
    • Registration is required to attend this event

Lizzie Pike, Vice President of Administrative Affairs

  • Matt Klosky wanted me to tell everyone that on April 9th, at 12:15pm in the Toner Lounge there will be young entrepreneurs speaking. There will be free steak salads for lunch and cheesecake for dessert for the students attending. More information to come at a later date.
  • The junior class officers have a fundraiser coming up that they will be telling you about, so please go support them tomorrow! 

JJ Garcia, Vice President of Multicultural Affairs

  • The Student Senate infographic was sent out to the student body earlier this week.

  • We are selling roses during the common hour on Wednesday!

  • We are working on planning Gaslight for the Spring right now! 

Nozomi Osada: Why isn’t the ice/water machine not working in Aquinas Hall yet?

Jacob Fiala: The seminarians are competing in a Milwaukee basketball tournament this weekend! Ask Jacob for the link to watch, if interested!
