During the meeting of the Board of Trustees on October 13-14, 2022, students interacted with trustees in two significant ways.  First, over 30 sophomores, juniors, and seniors met with trustees in small groups. Over the course of their 90-minute interactions, the trustees asked the students the following two questions.

  • How is Saint Mary’s preparing you for an ethical life of service and leadership?
  • How is Saint Mary’s preparing you for your career?

From those two questions, the trustees followed up with other questions for the students.  The students also had the chance to ask the trustees questions. The trustees were very impressed with our students, their accomplishments, and their commitment to Saint Mary’s. They described our students as engaging, astute, gracious, well-spoken, and confident. Thanks to all our faculty and staff who prepare our students so well for these types of interactions.

Second, Sophia O’Neill, Student Senate president, and Katie Pierpont, Student Senate vice president for student affairs, presented to the University Enrollment and Student Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees. Sophia and Katie focused on the goals of the Student Senate for the year. Trustees then followed up their presentation with questions. Thanks to Soph and Katie for taking time from their busy schedules to make this presentation.
