Through the coordination of our Trusted Partner team, SpringPath Mental Health Services is offering paid internship opportunities for our Applied Psych students.
Saint Mary’s University students have a unique opportunity to step directly into meaningful mental health work through a paid apprenticeship with SpringPath Mental Health Services. SpringPath’s Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) support adults living with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders across eight metro-area locations. Interns work alongside a compassionate interdisciplinary care team in a diverse, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented environment.
This is far more than a passive observation experience. Student interns take on real responsibility from day one: leading psychoeducational groups, supporting daily living activities, and engaging in harm reduction strategies and crisis prevention. No two days look alike, and hands-on learning happens at every turn. Past interns call the experience “wonderful” and say it helped them grow both personally and professionally. To support that growth, SpringPath offers structured training, ongoing supervision, and mentorship from its experienced practitioners. Students participate in classroom sessions, job shadowing, and guided practice while building skills in psychiatric rehabilitation, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive work.
This paid apprenticeship offers flexible scheduling (20–40 hours per week), with opportunities to continue on staff after completion. Interns earn $21 per hour, and part-time employees gain access to medical, dental, vision, and financial benefits after 30 days of employment. Students must meet a DHS background check, be current Saint Mary’s learners, and have a valid driver’s license.
This internship is one example of Saint Mary’s University’s commitment to work-integrated learning, ensuring that students apply classroom knowledge in authentic professional settings before graduation. Through partnerships like SpringPath, Saint Mary’s connects academic theory to hands-on service, helping students build career-ready skills while living out the university’s mission of serving others with dignity, respect, and purpose.
Students who are ready to apply what they are learning and make a tangible difference in the lives of others are encouraged to express interest. Contact Gianna Perdomo (gianna.perdomo@springpathmentalhealth.com) to start the process, or reach out to Clinical Supervisor Shannon Gullette Eue (shannon.gullette@springpathmentalhealth.com) with questions.
