Residence halls close for Spring Break on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. and reopen on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at noon. Key cards will be turned off during break and you will not have access to your residence halls after 7:00 p.m. on February 28 and before noon on March 9.

Residents are required to complete a break checkout form in eRezLife prior to leaving campus. The form will be opened on Friday, February 21, 2025 and closes on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.

For this break, all dorm-size refrigerators must be unplugged, thawed and propped open. All perishable food items must be taken home, donated to the food pantry, or thrown away prior to leaving. There will be a fine added to your student account if refrigerators are not cleaned and unplugged. All full-size refrigerators in apartments/villages will stay plugged in, but will be checked for expiring food. Any food in community refrigerators that is not labeled or appears old will be thrown away during break.

If you need on-campus housing between Friday, February 28, 2025 after 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 9, 2025 before noon you must request to stay on-campus. Please email  reslife@smumn.edu for the break housing form to stay on campus for break.

The break housing form needs to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025. If you do not register by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, a $25 late fee will be added to your student account.

Only those students who will be participating in SAINT MARY’S SPONSORED activities, traveling long distances (over 500 miles) or international students will be granted break housing unless specifically approved by the Office of Residence Life.  A $35 per night fee may be added to a student account for remaining on campus for reasons other than those stated above.

Residence hall staff will check student rooms during breaks to ensure that no safety hazards exist and that break protocols were followed. If a staff member should encounter any violations, or resident residing in the residence halls without authorization, the resident will be contacted and may face disciplinary action.

Food service will not be available. The cafeteria will close at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28, and the Cardinal Club will close at 5:00 p.m. on the same date. The cafeteria will reopen on Sunday, March 9, for dinner.

The Cardinal Co-op food pantry will be open during break from 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. in Griffin Hall #199. If you have any unopened, refrigerated food that cannot make the trip home with you, please consider donating it to the food pantry. Please speak with your RA or Hall Director for directions on how to donate.
