Today, on May 15th, we celebrate the solemnity of St. John Baptist de La Salle, a visionary educator and founder of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, more commonly known as the Christian Brothers. In addition to being a great saint, De La Salle is the patron of all teachers. St. John Baptist de La Salle dedicated his life to the human and Christian formation of the poor who lacked access to quality education. We continue to enjoy the fruits of his labor today, as the Lasallian charism teaches minds and touches hearts in countless schools worldwide.
We give thanks to God this day for the great man whose vision led to the flourishing of our own university, and for all the Christian Brothers who have been so instrumental in awakening, nurturing, and empowering learners to ethical lives of service and leadership.
