Minnesota’s Social Work Advocacy Week took place last week, with virtual info sessions on important legislation related to social work taking place Monday through Wednesday, and an in-person Social Work Day at the Capitol on Thursday. Hundreds of social workers from across the state gathered to participate in this important, yearly event! Several Saint Mary’s social work students participated in virtual sessions to learn about social work licensing reform, title protection, community safety, child protection, sustainable housing, and disability wage justice. Many also participated at the in-person gathering at the state capitol, with some attending on behalf of Saint Mary’s and others attending on behalf of their current internship or employment agencies. Pictured below are a few of our participants after meeting with State Representative, Jessica Hanson, to talk about social work licensing and title protection.
