Last Thursday, the Saint Mary’s fastpitch softball team learned it was the recipient of one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s six invitations to the conference’s post-season dance.
On Monday, the Cardinals learned who they would face in the opening round of the six-team tournament.
Saint Mary’s (13-9 MIAC, 21-17 overall) will kick-off its first MIAC Tournament appearance in 10 years on Thursday, heading to St. Olaf’s Mabel Shirley Field in Northfield, Minn., for a 4:30 p.m. quarterfinal showdown.
St. Olaf beat the Cardinals twice in the teams’ regular-season meeting on April 11, dealing SMU a 5-3 setback in Game 1, before completing the sweep with a 9-3 victory in the nightcap at Saint Mary’s Field.
Tickets for the event are $10 for adults and $2 for students, while children under five are free. There is no senior discount, and only MIAC passes will be accepted.
