September is National Suicide Prevention Month and serves as a time to raise awareness about suicide prevention. It is also a time to remember lives lost to suicide, those who struggle with suicidal ideation, as well as families and communities who have been impacted.

As a Saint Mary’s student, there are resources available to you.

The university offers in person counseling provided by behavioral health therapist, Kelsey Martin, LICSW, LADC. She is able to provide counseling on a variety of topics including general mental health, anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns and substance abuse. She is available on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:00am-4:00pm.

To make an appointment, please email wellnesscenter@smumn.edu

The university recently partnered with Uwill, one of the leading online mental health and wellness platforms for students. Uwill offers free immediate access to teletherapy, a direct crisis connection, and wellness programs. After completing your profile at this link, students are able to schedule an appointment with a therapist of their choosing. Students receive 8 free sessions annually.

Lastly, Saint Mary’s has partnered with Affinity Empowering to offer the health and wellness web-app READY™ to all students, faculty, and staff.  READY™ is a self-guided program that offers clinically designed areas of focus that ranges from decreasing stress and worry to managing heart health. There is also interactive content including videos, activities, and articles released weekly.
