On October 17, the School of Education team completed their third Adopt-A-Highway cleanup. Braving the chilly temperatures and gusty winds, the group cleaned up litter along Hwy 61 just below the Saint Mary’s Winona campus. This two-mile stretch is a new location for the School of Education covering highway 61 mile marker 27.31 to 29.53 (just at the bottom of the hill, from the intersection of 14 and 61n down to the Winona lakes). Our team included Mike Lovorn, Becki Warnock (MPLS campus), Yuly Gonzalez (visiting Fulbright Scholar), Christopher Bethke (Betty’s son), and Betty Kube. Mike Lovorn “won” the craziest find of the day with a black plastic child-sized snow sled and a pair of Crocs!

Adopt-a-Highway is a great opportunity to give back to our community while keeping our majestic area clean. Another clean-up date will be arranged sometime in Spring 2023. All are welcome to participate in this effort.
