It was a “Wild” day for Saint Mary’s University students in the Public Relations/Business Club on Sunday, March 13. The students, along with faculty adviser Dean Beckman, spent the day at the team offices of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild in St. Paul courtesy of 2017 SMU alumna Taylor Pogreba, who is now a Sales and Services Account Executive with the team. A panel of Wild staff in the areas of data analytics, marketing, sales, and digital media addressed the group, who were then joined on a tour of the Xcel Energy Center by 2016 SMU alumnus Ricky Palermo, an associate producer at Bally Sports North. Palermo was at the arena to produce the pregame and postgame shows for the Wild’s game that night against the Nashville Predators. The students and Beckman had tickets to watch the #9 jersey retirement ceremony of former Wild player Mikko Koivu, followed by the game against the Predators. Pogreba was then able to get the group on the ice after the game for some photo-taking opportunities to close out the day.
