Saint Mary’s Student Awarded Scholarship

Saint Mary’s student Peyton Buerman, a junior Marketing major and Public Relations and Digital Media minor, earned the top award in the Minnesota Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America Dr. Willard Thompson Scholarship competition. Buerman received  the first place $2,000 scholarship to be used toward educational expenses, and was named “Best of PRSSA” and “President’s Award” for being the top scoring applicant. Public Relations professionals judged the competition and said Buerman’s work examples were “”well researched and supported,” and her application provided a “solid essay and work example.” As a scholarship winner, Buerman will be recognized at the Minnesota PRSA Classics Award Ceremony on May 4 in Minneapolis. She will also be invited to a lunch with the President of the Minnesota PRSA. This is the second year in a row a Saint Mary’s student has earned a Dr. Willard Thompson Scholarship. Last year both Grace Chalmers and Danielle Rhodes received awards.
