GDP growth, oil prices, and inflation still dominate headlines and captivate leaders’ attention. Yet, absent from leadership dashboards is how people feel. This is why the leaders of today are missing the global rise of worry, stress, sadness, anger, and physical pain. When the leaders of tomorrow are asked, “What indicators do you follow most closely?”–hopefully, many of them will say, “happiness.”

– Jon Clifton

Want to promote human flourishing across our units, classrooms, and campuses? Then join the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and the Hendrickson Institute for Ethical Leadership as we discuss Jon Clifton’s book, Blind Spot: The Global Rise of Unhappiness and How Leaders Missed It in the lead-up to the Hendrickson Forum. In the book, Clifton emphasizes the importance of attending to wellbeing and happiness in effective leadership.
