17th Annual Fall Faculty Conference

The State of AI in Society, Industry, and Education

Please join us at one or all three of the following events and workshops to discuss
the current state of AI in society, industry, and education.

Minneapolis Campus on Wednesday, October 15^th, 5:30 – 8:45 pm
This gathering is a chance to build community and fellowship with faculty and staff across the university over food and refreshments. At the event, we will present the Saint John Baptist De La Salle Teaching award to a faculty member who has sustained excellence in teaching and contributed to Saint Mary’s by serving as a model of the Lasallian charism in the classroom. We will also have presentations on the current state of AI and conclude with a workshop on integrating AI into the classroom.

Winona Campus on Thursday, October 16^th, 12:15 – 1:15 pm
The conference continues with a presentation on the future state of AI in society, industry, and education.

Synchronous Online on Thursday, October 23^rd , 12:00 – 1:00 pm
This workshop will explore practical strategies for identifying AI-generated content in writing and appropriate steps to take when unapproved AI use is suspected. University’s AI policy, shared approaches for promoting academic integrity and responsible AI use, and indicators of AI-written text will be reviewed.
