Undergraduate students at Saint Mary’s  are invited to participate in the 2026 Collegiate Case Competition, hosted by the Minnesota Chapter of the American Marketing Association.  The competition brings together student teams from colleges and universities across the region to solve a real-world marketing challenge and present their ideas to industry professionals.

The event will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis.

This opportunity is being shared by Karen Zellner, Senior Director of Marketing at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and a member of the AMA MN Board of Directors, as part of her role supporting student engagement and career-connected learning.

What Is a Case Competition?

In a case competition, student teams are given a business scenario based on a real organization or market challenge. Teams analyze the situation, develop a marketing strategy, and present their recommendations to a panel of judges made up of experienced marketing professionals.

This is not about having the “right” answer  it’s about how you approach the problem, support your ideas, and communicate your thinking.

What Students Will Do

Participants will:

  • Work in teams of 3–4 undergraduate students

  • Analyze a real-world marketing challenge provided in advance

  • Develop a strategic set of recommendations

  • Create and deliver a professional presentation

  • Receive feedback from marketing professionals

Why Participate?

Students who participate gain more than competition experience. Students also gain:

  • Resume-ready project experience

  • Exposure to marketing professionals and potential employers

  • Practice presenting to professional audiences

  • Recognition for their work

Who Should Participate?

The competition is open to undergraduate students interested in marketing, business, analytics, communications, or related fields. Students do not need to be members of AMA to participate.
