We ask for your prayers for the repose of the soul of Robert (Bob) Kierlin. Mr. Kierlin was born and raised in Winona and graduated from Cotter High School. A former state senator and one of the five co-founders of Fastenal, he received an honorary doctorate from Saint Mary’s in 1993. His wife, Mary Burrichter, served on the Saint Mary’s Board of Trustees from 2002–2010 and 2011–2021.
Regarded as a respected community leader and devoted philanthropist, he was a generous benefactor and supporter of many initiatives, including Brother William Hall, Aquinas Hall, arts programs, and the restoration of the Chapel of Saint Mary of the Angels. Mr.Kierlin also served on the board of the private Hiawatha Education Foundation alongside his two daughters and their spouses. His late wife, Stefannié Valéncia-Kierlin, a former Saint Mary’s trustee, predeceased him in January 1999.
Lord, we give thanks for Mr. Kierlin’s life and the many contributions he made to the community. We ask for comfort and strength for his family, friends, and all those who mourn his passing. May they find solace in Your presence and be filled with the promise of resurrection through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
