As we prepare for the Solemnity of Saint Joseph on March 19, today we begin a novena prayer to Saint Joseph. We pray for the spiritual and material needs of Saint Mary’s University, especially those requiring God’s timely providence through the intercession of St. Joseph. We will begin praying the Novena prayer after today’s 12:15 PM Mass and conclude on the Solemnity of Saint Joseph (March 19).
A Novena is a Catholic devotion consisting of specific prayers offered for nine consecutive days, usually for a particular intention or grace. Saint Joseph is the humble, faithful, and just foster father of Jesus and spouse of Mary. He was entrusted by God with protecting and providing for the Holy Family and he did so in obedience and with great courage. He is the patron of the universal church, of families, and workers. We earnestly ask Saint Joseph to watch over Saint Mary’s University at this time in its history.
