Last week, multiple members of our Saint Mary’s MSW community attended an in-person event at the state capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota. Social workers from all over the state gathered at the MN Capitol to meet with their Legislators and advocate on behalf of our profession and clients. Our students were able to meet with the legislative aide who works with Senator Omar Fetah and were also able to meet directly with Representative Gomez (representing the neighborhood where our campus is physically located). Some were also able to attend a committee session, and all joined with other social workers for a rally in the Rotunda to hear from multiple legislators who support our profession. We are proud of our students and their advocacy efforts.
