Students from The School of Education, Winona Campus proudly represented the Saint Mary’s University community at the 38th Annual Minnesota Education Job Fair held at Huntington Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus.  Tarsila Borges (MAT-World Languages License Pathway),  Brookelyn Lewis (B.A. Elementary Education) and Ben Serb (B.A. Elementary Education) were in attendance.   The job fair is recognized throughout the state of Minnesota as one of the most effective ways to secure employment as a teacher both within Minnesota and throughout the country.  Annually over 500 teacher candidates attend and more than 100 school districts from across the United States are present for recruiting.  Multiple in-person interview opportunities were available to all of the Education students that attended and each were offered teaching positions on site.

Assistant Professor Susan Baloun accompanied the students and consulted with a number of districts for developing robust programming in the School of Education that addresses the job market demands.  There was also an opportunity to discuss teacher licensing changes with the Minnesota Department of Education Licensing Agency in order to keep Saint Mary’s up-to-date and making sure we are meeting teacher licensing requirements.  Overall the experience was a great success for the students and  the Saint Mary’s University community.
