We are sending out a friendly safety reminder to all in our community whether you are at work, in transit or on your personal time. Because of ongoing car thefts, carjackings and continued crimes in our area and throughout the country, we urge everyone to be extra vigilant and pay attention to their surroundings at all times.

Other tips include making sure your cellphone is handy and has been charged, try to park your car in well-lit areas and do not leave your vehicle running while unattended or keys inside a parked vehicle. Lock your doors while driving and don’t stop for strangers who are trying to approach you or stop your car. Never leave anything of value in your car or leave your car running unattended. Memorize your License Plate number.

If you are on the Minneapolis Campus and notice something of concern, please contact Campus Security at 612-720-0417. And if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me, at gbilden@smumn.edu or 612-728-5145.
