The M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program hosted an in-person practicum fair on Monday, October 17th in the SMUMN University Center! More than 30 sites from across the greater Twin Cities metro attended to connect with students who will begin applying for their practicum year in January. Sites spanned across many treatment settings, including private practices, substance abuse facilities, in- home and school-based mental health agencies, and outpatient hospital treatment settings, among others. Attendees also included the Executive Director of the Minnesota Board of Marriage and Family Therapy and the President of the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (MAMFT).
More than 50 students attended the fair, which was the first in-person fair hosted at Saint Mary’s since 2019, to connect with practitioners in the field and learn more about the potential sites they’d like to apply to for their required practicum year. Student members of the MFT Student Community Association (SCA) also volunteered their time and expertise at this year’s fair.
MFT Associate and Clinical Director, Sara Heinzen, said, ” The opportunity to host this fair for our students in person makes such a big difference. The first impressions and connections made here today are the beginning of our student’s professional networking in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy.”
