Saint Mary’s University will host motivational speaker Mark Potter on Monday, February 17th at 7 p.m., in Page Theatre, where he will give a presentation open to the community on mental health including sharing his personal journey of overcoming severe depression during the peak of his coaching career
The presentation will cover topics such as handling pressure, overcoming failure or embarrassment, tracking negative thoughts, and setting achievable goals. His insights are tailored to help employees, businesses, advisors, colleges, students, and teams unlock their full potential.
His wife, Nanette, will offer her perspective to support those who are living with someone struggling with mental illness.
Throughout his 30-year coaching career, Potter observed students arriving at college without the necessary tools to navigate life’s challenges and the adversity that comes with them.
Potter was named Coach of the Year five times and recognized as one of the top 15 most influential figures in the Wichita sports community. He has been inducted into the Cowley College Hall of Fame, the Newman University Hall of Fame, and most recently, the Wichita Sports Hall of Fame.
