Born in Belgium in 1841, Louis Wiaux, son of a blacksmith, entered the Brothers and became Brother Mutien-Marie. He was not successful in the regular classroom, but found his niche as an art and music teacher and much beloved prefect at a boarding school, where he remained for 58 years. He had a tremendous influence on his students because of his patience and piety, and after his death in 1917, many miracles were attributed to him.

Bro. Mutien-Marie was canonized in 1989 by Pope Saint John Paul II; his feast day is January 30.  Saint Mutien-Marie, pray for us.
