English major Janie McGann has won the 2022 Outstanding Undergraduate Essay in English for her paper “The Notion of a Nation,” a study of the relationship between cultural tradition and national identity in Irish writer Frank O’Connor’s short story about the Anglo-Irish war, “Guests of the Nation.”
