Dear Saint Mary’s Community,

On May 1, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools began its 46th General Chapter, themed “Building new pathways to transform lives,” in Rome, Italy. Convening every seven years, the purpose of the General Chapter is to assess the needs of the Institute and the global Lasallian family, to propose innovative responses to ensure those needs are met, and to elect new leadership for the Institute. The General Chapter is scheduled to end on May 22.

To learn more about the General Chapter, see updates, and explore resources, please visit this website. There you will find background information, resources on what is informing the Chapter, primary themes, and a schedule of the various phases of the Chapter. The General Chapter includes elected delegates and appointed expert consultants from the five different geographic regions that make up the Institute.. There are a number of whom have connections to Saint Mary’s as current or former Brother-Trustees, such as Br. Michael Fehrenbach, FSC, visitor of the Midwest Director and current Trustee, and. Alisa Macksey, Dean of Student Success and First Generation Initiative, an appointed expert-consultant.

We invite you to join us in praying the official prayer for the General Chapter.

To You, Most Holy Trinity
we entrust the 46th General Chapter
of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.
We ask you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
who guide all things in our lives as Brothers and Partners,
to grant us
joy in thanksgiving,
boldness in truth,
and strength in decisions.
Despite our fragility,
our hearts are filled with reasons to hope,
because of our desire to commit the Institute
to following new paths
to transform lives.
With your grace,
we will have the strength and courage
to move to the peripheries
and release our creative energies.
Together, as Brothers and Partners
committed to the Lasallian mission,
we want to work in the spirit of the gospel
to change our way of viewing the world,
to take care of our common home.
And to become true missionary disciples.
We ask Our Lady of the Star,
Saint John Baptist de La Salle,
all our Lasallian saints and holy Brothers
to intercede for us.
Amen.

Saint John Baptist de LaSalle, pray for us.

Live Jesus in our hearts, forever!
