The Stop Campus Hazing Act, which was enacted on December 23, 2024, sets forth minimum standards for higher education institutions to combat, monitor, and report on hazing incidents. This new legislation requires institutions to publicly disclose any hazing violations committed by student organizations. Broadly, the Stop Campus Hazing Act delineates three key responsibilities:
  1. Institutions are required to include hazing as a reportable offense in their Annual Security Reports (ASRs).
  2. Institutions must adopt evidence-based training programs aimed at preventing hazing for students, faculty, and staff.
  3. Institutions must establish and maintain a public Campus Hazing Transparency Report (CHTR) that indicates which student organizations have been recently deemed responsible for hazing.

The provisions in this act are intended to enhance transparency, bolster institutional accountability, and mitigate the risk of harm to students.
