Had COVID? Don’t wait to get vaccinated.

If you’ve recently had a COVID-19 infection you should still get vaccinated!  As long as you are out of isolation and your symptoms have improved there is no need to wait.  This include those who are just starting the vaccination series as well as those who become infected between their first and second dose.  The only exception to this is for those who were treated with monoclonal antibodies, in which case it is recommended to wait 90 days following treatment to improve your body’s response to the vaccine.

Although you have some immunity following a COVID-19 infection you should still be vaccinated.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

  • Research has not yet shown how long you are protected from getting COVID-19 again after you recover from COVID-19.
  • Vaccination helps protect you even if you’ve already had COVID-19.
  • Evidence is emerging that people get better protection by being fully vaccinated compared with having had COVID-19.

Experts are still learning more about how long vaccines protect against COVID-19. CDC will keep the public informed as new evidence becomes available.
