February is American Heart Month, a nationwide observance that highlights heart disease being the leading cause of death in the U.S.
Our Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesiology students are wearing red to remind you to pay attention to the ABCs of Heart Health:
A. Take aspirin as directed by your healthcare professional – aspirin can reduce your risk of having a heart attack or stroke.
B. Control your blood pressure – high blood pressure increases your risk for heart attack or stroke more than any other risk factor
C. Manage your cholesterol – too much cholesterol can build up in your arteries and cause heart disease.
See the Million Hearts page for more information.
