CELT, in partnership with the SGPP Faculty Development Committee, is excited to announce the theme and opening session of the 2024 Fall Conference: “Connected Teaching When There Isn’t Enough Time.” Harriet Schwartz, author of Connected Teaching, will offer a keynote and workshop in September on her work with relational teaching and promoting intellectual mattering.

In the lead-up to Schwartz’s presentations, we will have workshops focusing on effective teaching when we are overwhelmed and have little time, starting with a virtual session on work-life integration.

Enhancing Work-Life Integration Workshop

June 19, Noon – 1:00 pm

Addressing the complementary roles of work and family life as part of a more comprehensive view of one’s career development is often a feature of successful teaching and mentoring relationships. Considerable planning and foresight are required to manage the inevitable conflicts of commitments. This session will introduce participants to a well-established program of materials designed to guide participants through a series of reflective exercises assessing personal goals in four domains of their life: 1) work, 2) family, 3) community, and 4) self. The exercises culminate in a small-scale “experiment” designed to have participants make a small but meaningful change that will achieve better integration of their goals across these four domains.
