Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesiology (DNP)

  • Student Symposium: On June 6, 2025 the second cohort of DNP students presented their research topics to 250 members of the anesthesiology community. The Student Symposium program hosted all of the student nurse anesthetists in the nurse anesthesiology program, as well as future students who are starting in the fall, program alum, and current nurses who are considering applying to Saint Mary’s in the future. Additionally, current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA’s) attended, along with 12 potential employers 
  • On April 16, 2025, Saint Mary’s DNP program hosted its first Substance Use Disorder (SUD) workshop for the Class of 2027 and their family members. The 3-hour event aimed to raise awareness about the serious and ongoing threat of SUD within the anesthesiology profession. The workshop featured a range of essential SUD topics, including student mental health and wellness, suicide prevention, real-world examples of drug diversion, and a moving talk by CRNA alumnus and activist Ted Speiss, who shared his journey from addiction to recovery.

Doctor of Counseling Psychology (PsyD)

  • Ashley Sovereign, Program Director and core faculty member, was awarded the Presidential Citation from the Minnesota Psychological Association in recognition of exceptional contributions to the field of psychology, dedication to advancing the profession in Minnesota, and commitment to the values of the profession. This award was presented at the annual conference in April 2025.
  • Two core faculty, Dr. Elizabeth Fleming and Dr. Kathryn LaBore, working with a recent graduate, Dr. Romana Trilegi, had an article published in a special edition of the Journal of Forensic Nursing. This article highlights the work of Dr. Triliegi’s dissertation on the effectiveness of the Runaway Intervention Program (RIP), a strengths-based, nurse-led model supporting at-risk runaway youth.
