Eid al-Adha or the feast of sacrifice is the second and the largest of the two key Muslim religious holidays. It honors Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son, Isaac, an act of obedience to God. This holiday is usually celebrated for 3-4 days and occurs in the 12th month of the Isalmic lunar calendar. Eid al-Adha begins with marking the occasion by sacrificing an animal (i.e., sheep, lamb, goat, etc.) and is traditionally divided into thirds for your family, friends, and those in need. It begins at sunset on Sunday, June 16.
Let us take this moment to reflect on how we can be attentive to God’s voice in our lives and be obedient to his promptings.
